Based on the numbers intending to come out next time, I think we need a home that comfortably holds 40. What a lovely thing to be able to say - and so soon! Thank you so much to everyone who has spread the word or sent a good vibe our way and thank you especially to Monika Becker, Maggie McKee and Joseph Eliezer who just "got" us right away and have become Copia regulars.
We had a cozy 28 people this morning (including lots of new faces who need to learn about HOBN and your businesses!) and, while the meeting ended at 9am as promised, over half the people stayed to build relationships past 9:30, and 7 people were still there at 10:15. By rough count, over 50 referrals were generated and several joint ventures got cooking.

Given our social venture/spirit venture mandate, we feel it is critical to be able to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other specialty diets and most importantly to have access to real, fresh food - yet come in at the $10 breakfast and $15 lunch that HOBN chapters favour. That hasn't been easy to find even in the city but it's proving even harder in the wider region.

Please note that we have a new welcome procedure in place:
We still have the two normal breakfast options, the $7.50 or the $9.50 deal, plus tax. The $7.50 keeps to be the minimum purchase in support of our venue hosts. The only thing that changes is that there will be two places for us to pay for our breakfast depending on what we'd like to have:
For the $7.50 option, with regular coffee or your choice of teas, paid by cash only:
If you want the $7.50 deal ($8.50 incl. HST) with a regular coffee or your choice of tea, please go directly upstairs where Bonnie, our first volunteer cashier, will take your cash and will hand you a cup for your beverage. Coffee, a selection of teas and breakfast items will be set up in the meeting area. Receipts will also be available for you when you check in with Bonnie. Once you’ve paid for your breakfast you may go in and grab your seat and breakfast.
For everything else, e.g. the $7.50 breakfast with specialty coffees/teas, the $9.50 deal, or if you wish to pay with your credit card:
Please go directly to the counter downstairs where you will be ordering and receiving your breakfast. Once you have your breakfast in your hands, please come upstairs to our meeting area and join the crowd.
With this new process we hope for a smoother and faster process of purchasing breakfast and for the meeting to start in a timely fashion, which translates in to more time for networking afterwards!!!
Doors to the Buzz open at 7:00am, the meeting will start at 7:15am.
Please note: It will no longer be possible for attendees to first go upstairs, grab a seat and then go back down to purchase breakfast. Buying breakfast will be the first thing we all do, and then we will be granted access to the meeting space.

As of this week Thursday, October 20th, we will be trying out a slightly different approach to our HOBN Yaletown meeting. Lately we have had over 30 or 35 participants at our meetings, which made it challenging to get through the whole group in a timely and effective manner.
In our effort to run a high quality meeting in our usual, more relaxed fashion that finishes early enough to allow for free networking at the end, we are now limiting the number of participants to 25.
That means you need to be one of the first 25 members to RSVP to be able to attend the meeting. We'll try it out for a few weeks and will see how it goes.
For this week's meeting we are fully booked as of a few minutes ago. So if you couldn't make it to the meeting for this week why don't you RSVP now for next week's meeting and make sure you get your spot?
