George Moen recently suggested that we follow the example of the HOBN North Shore chapter by starting group discussions around business-related topics after our round of introductions. It sounds like a great way to add value to our meeting.
So as of this week Thursday, August 23rd, we will have a topic of the week, something that is of interest to us business folks. We will kick things off with “Networking – How to Do It “Right” and Make It Work for You”. Please come ready to share your best kept networking secrets or best practices and learn from your fellow networkers.
Here’s a rough outline for our meetings:
7:00am: Open networking, purchase your breakfast (min. purchase $7.50)
7:30am (if not a bit earlier): Roundtable Introductions
!!!Note!!!
We will now each have 60 seconds to introduce our business and let the group
know how to help us. We will need to keep a somewhat tighter schedule here so that
we have enough time for our discussion.
8:00am (roughly): !NEW! Topic of the Week-Discussion
8:30am (roughly): Open networking as long as you wish (parking meters kick in at 9:00am on
Homer Street!)
Please bear with us as we introduce this new meeting format over the next few weeks. We will iron out any potential kinks over time and make it work smoothly, while still keeping the fun and laughter going that is so important for a healthy business & networking atmosphere.
We invite you to let us know if there are any specific business-related topics that you’d like for us to discuss in the future. You may also want to look at the notes from the HOBN North Shore chapter discussions by clicking here http://hobnonline.com/groups/north-vancouver-chapter
Mike Snetsinger and Julie Isaac have done a great job by taking notes of their discussions, which you will find on the right hand side of the page that comes up.
Our intention is to add great value to our Yaletown #1 meeting through these discussions, and we are sure looking forward to your contributions and feedback.
Come down and help us kick off our new discussions on Thursday!
Gratefully,

You're welcome for the invite. I hope we get to meet at another HOBN Yaletown meeting.
When it comes to inviting people to your event you actually have to create a new "Event" here on the HOBN site by clicking on the "Events" tab on the top of this page and then entering the details of your event there. Once you have done this there should be a blue "Invite" button on the right hand side of your event page, where you can choose which group(s) of people you'd like to invite. Hope this helps - let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!
