Where Higher Self Meets Bottom Line: Author, Venture Catalyst, Spiritual Business Coach, Life Path Expert, Intuitive Strategist & Keynote Speaker

Alanna Fero (MA, LSC) maintains a highly successful practice providing life purpose and business coaching, career management, leadership development, employee engagement consulting and recruitment services to local and international clients. She is also a popular keynote speaker, television and radio commentator, and author of the well-reviewed book, Love Made Visible: Values-Driven Approaches to Work/Life, its title taken from the Khalil Gibran poem which says that “To labour with love is to know life’s inmost secret / Work is love made visible.”  Love Made Visible offers readers the key to unlocking the secrets of how to live a great life and enjoy the abundance brought about by work you feel passionate about doing.

Devoted to principles of self-actualization and Integral Life Practice (with much credit given to the inspitations of Abraham Maslow and Ken Wilber), Alanna loves leveraging the power of interpersonal relationships, provocative dialogue, metaphysical principles and good strategy to improve people’s experience of their lives. She has become known for integrated approaches which create awareness and abundance in equal measure, demonstrating that there is no conflict between deep spiritual connection and material success. Her next book, Many Hands Make Light Work: Soul-Driven Approaches to Making a Living and a Life, is in writing stages now and details stories of the “callings” to a higher purpose for their work/lives that so many of her clients have felt and followed. Chapters also explore her own experiences with following intuitive guidance, including walking the Camino de Santiago, a Pilgrim’s journey and literal metaphor for higher consciousness of life path.

Chances are you might have seen Alanna doing an interview or taking live audience calls on BTV, CBC, The Knowledge Network or WTN in recent years, or heard her regular weekly appearances on the Simi Sara Show. She has been covered or quoted dozens of print and online outlets, including Maclean’s, The National Post, The Montreal Gazette, The Vancouver Sun, The Calgary Herald, The Ottawa Citizen, The New Brunswick Business Journal, Shared Vision Magazine, FOXBusiness, The Examiner, Yahoo HotJobs, and Monster.com. More and more people can also report having heard one of Alanna’s “Soul of Work” and “Generation Hybrid” keynotes for audiences from 10 to 2500 or participated in one of her interactive workshops for corporations and professional associations.

In 2009, Alanna was the only coach in Canada to make the Top 20 in the Women’s Television Network’s “Expert Search” and in Spring 2010, she received five separate nominations for the Women of Worth “Spirit, Success and Soul” award. In 2011, her focus has been on refining the concept of “Spirit Venture,” what she believes to be the deeper extension of social venture, an intersection of karma and commerce, dharma and drive, enterprise which emerges from the soul and which creates abundance for itself and all those it touches by basing its decisions on a call to service of the highest good.

Alanna defines her mission in language both sweeping in its scope and simple in its focus on integrity: “to create spaces, strategies, tools and relationships which joyfully and vibrantly support self-actualizing individuals and progressive organizational cultures to:

  • work in innovative, conscious, and loving connection to self and others, putting awareness in action every day
  • experience work/life, business and career, as integrative extensions of their highest visions for themselves and the world
  • experience achievement, success and abundant reward as the natural outflows of intimately knowing what matters and taking action in alignment with that knowing
  • do good in the world and do well for themselves at the same time
  • . . . and to lead on this path not by soliciting followers but rather by going first.

Alanna makes her home in Vancouver, Canada, and spends her personal time engrossed in hiking, travel, meditation and preparing gourmet whole foods. Learn more at www.alannafero.com.  Email alanna [at] alannafero.com.

    Secret Sauce Ingredients - From Recipe to Checkout Stand
    Parking at the Easypark on Cordova, less than a block away

    Sponsored by Vancity, Choices Markets, Indigo Natural Products Management and Social Venture Institutes by Hollyhock, THOUGHT4FOOD is serving up an impressive mix of local food-related businesses and culinary creatives with a wide range of expertise that covers nearly every aspect of the food chain -- from growing to preparing food, manufacturing and distributing, retailing and even turning it back into soil. This is another zero-waste event with all leftovers going to feed downtown East-siders.

    PS: It's impossible to genuinely give THOUGHT for food without thinking of those who struggle to get enough to eat, which is whywe made the decision to use the conference centre we did. Dodson House
    is on the same block in the DTES as the United We Can outlet where Vancouver's binners cash in their recyclables. Monies earned by renting the space for events make it possible for Dodson to provide
    low income housing units and meal support to some of the city's most vulnerable populations.

    Outside Dodson House, we can all take a brief moment to reflect on how lucky we are to not have to struggle to merely survive as some do. Once inside the Dodson Centre, the refinished floors, exposed brick, post & beam and sleek stage take over, and you'll find yourself in a self-contained professional setting where you will be comfortable and be able to have a very good time.

    We had ZERO problems with the venue or its surrounding populations last time, but know that it can feel a bit like running a gauntlet to get in. Please feel free to phone either Charlie (604-813-2557) or myself (604-319-9952) if you'd like someone to meet you a block over and walk in or out with you.
    No problem, no judgment.

    We were standing room only and goosebumping all over the place as one heart-based entrepreneur after another shared a story of inspiration, triumph over adversity and bold new paradigm visions unfolding. And holy guacamole did we eat well! 20 food exhibitors doled out their best, with all leftovers either going to feed the vulnerable community in the DTES or composted by Bokoeco for a zero waste event. Pics are circulating on Twitter with #copiavan and #T4F.

    Awakening, Wholeness and Rebirth for the Planet, Humanity and YOU
    A Visioning Workshop for Life and Business, Dec 12, 6-10pm
    (Experienced Meditators and Meditation Virgins equally welcome)

    On 12/12/12, consciously awakening people from every corner of the planet will participate in a 30 minute meditation designed to raise vibration, expand love and compassion, and set the highest imaginable intentions for our planet and our continued evolutionary consciousness. At Copia, we’d like to take that vision one step further to experience the highest and best visions for each individual as well, and you are invited.

    Much speculation is out there about the prophecied end of the world on Dec 21, 2012 (or 12/21/12). Folks inclined to live in love and to tune in to universal wisdom tend to agree that the end will be of the world as we currently know it, because humanity will have reached a critical evolutionary tipping point allowing us to move to a higher consciousness and a more loving way of being, and what we will actually experience is a beautiful rebirth. Thankfully many of us are not just “hoping” for that – we’re actively doing our part to evolve, and being intentional on 12/12/12 is part of that.

    Join the Copia community for an Evolutionary Evening where you will experience and embrace the best of the WE consciousness and then also be able to take that knowing inward and enjoy the most significant aspects of your ME as well.

    RSVP/Tix: http://www.meetup.com/CopiaSpirit/events/91016772/ - Save $5 by confirming before Nov 30

    5:50-6:20pm – Arrival, settling in, making connections.

    6:30pm – Participation in the Worldwide Meditation – we’ll have a big screen and good speakers and you’ll be able to be truly immersed in the meditative experience (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3boqddWaF1g)

    7:00pm – Stretching, Biology Break, Hearty & Healthy Snacks and small group discussions of the world visions received.

    8:00pm – Guided Visioning & Progression Meditation, taking each of you forward in time to see and feel and know the very best self you are capable of growing into as this more positive, loving and compassionate evolution of human life unfolds: YOU, Fully Realized, In Your Dharma and In Your JOY, with an opportunity for journaling and small group discussion to support your integration of this new vision for your personal and professional life.

    8:40pm – Guided Visioning & Letting Go/Making Whole Meditation, showing you what you would be best served to release and/or to integrate to become your most loving, empowered and abundant self, the You who is most capable of bring your highest and best potentials into reality, for your good and for the good of all - also with an opportunity for journaling and discussion (and more snacks, too!)

    10:00pm – Homeward Bound ☺

    Your hostess is Copia’s founder (www.copiaspirit.com) and creator of the Higher Ground Visioning Circle series (http://www.alannafero.com/workshops/higher-ground), Alanna Fero. She’s an experienced hand (and voice!) at guiding individuals and groups deeper into meditation and visioning, and at facilitating the dialogue which increases integration of the wisdom received. You can review some feedback on these circles here: http://www.alannafero.com/workshops/testimonials-workshops. 12/12/12 is a once-in-a-universe experience, and Alanna looks forward to sharing it with all who feel called to join the circle on this night.

    Earlybird tickets (til Nov 30) are $25; Regular tickets $30 (starting Dec 1).

    LOCOVORE RESTAURANT SEEKS CREATIVE PASTRY COOK –
    A SWEET OPPORTUNITY

    We are sustainable epicures with a strong commitment to local, organic and natural foods and take pride in being accommodating to allergies and sensitivities. We work with alternative as well as conventional ingredients for much of our menu: whether wheat and rye or gluten free, vegan or healthy omnivore, our guests know they can rely on the care and flavour we put into every dish.

    We are a thriving family-owned business. Some of our staff have been with us since we opened our doors and many for 5 to 10 years, a retention rate that speaks to our warm, collaborative culture and the quality of our food and customer relationships.

    Our new Pastry Cook will be responsible for the consistent preparation of a variety of scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pies, tarts and cakes. We have several signature pastry dishes you will need to learn to prepare but then you are invited to be creative within our palette of local and organic ingredients to expand our menu and our loyal following.

    One secret of our success has always been putting the right people on the team and then giving them the freedom to play. You will work 35 – 45 hours per week preparing both finished goodies on your workdays and uncooked ones for other cooks to bake on your days off. When you choose to work the required hours is up to you - as long as we have fresh scones and cinnamon rolls for every breakfast and pies and cakes for every lunch and dinner, and peak holiday and event periods have adequate coverage.

    To be our new Pastry Cook, you are:

    - Someone who values team, collaboration and workplace culture and will know a good gig when you see it;

    - A natural in the kitchen, with a comfortable feel for a wide range of ingredients and cuisines, able to delivery equally delicious results in any season;

    - Allergy- and Plant-Based Nutrition-aware and comfortable with a variety of flours, fats and binders;

    - Well trained in Pastry fundamentals with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a busy restaurant or bakery kitchen;

    - Open to preparing a couple of audition pastries on our site as part of your second interview, should you progress to that stage;

    - Excited at the thought of improving your community, one natural sweet at a time.

    Please make sure your application package speaks to your specific Pastry knowledge – not just positions you have held but menus and recipes – and also says something about your passions and interests to give us a sense of the recipes you might like to create. Please know we’re also looking for evidence of a good sense of humour, a demonstrated respect and caring for good teammates and outstanding references.

    This is a full time, permanent position with a professional salary, extended health and dental benefits, employee meals and special employee pricing, 3 weeks vacation to start, some professional development funds and possible performance incentives for the right person.

    If your experience, values and personality are a fit for this position, please direct your resume in PDF form to our values-driven recruiting partner, Alanna Fero (www.alannafero.com) via naturalpastry@valuesdrivenhiring.biz with the subject line PASTRY COOK.

    We thank all applicants for their time and care but regret that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

    In a community like Copia, we all have something to say. Many of us are authors, media commentators, tv and radio hosts/performers, and definitely speakers of one sort or another. So when the opportunity arose to seek the professional wisdom of Michael Matthews, President of the Sattvic Productions International, a boutique speakers agency, (http://www.sattvicpi.com/), and one of his star clients, Jeffrey Armstrong, former Senior Sales Executive and Strategic Relationship Builder to Middle Eastern Countries for Apple Computers, who commands a hefty $20,000 per corporate keynote, we knew it was too serendipitous to pass up! Like many gifted luminaries, Jeffrey is on occasion moved to share his wisdom in his own community. We are blessed to have him and pleased to be able to share this event with you.

    Join us for this talk and Q&A and get answers to these questions:

    - What is the lifestyle of a global keynote speaker?

    - What are the stages of career development from an emerging speaker to a true global keynote who is in-demand?

    - How do you know if you have the chops for it?

    - What are top agents looking for when they recruit speaking talent to represent?

    - How can you be consistent with your message and still adapt to your audience's needs?

    - What are three things every speaker must do to make your message relevant and make yourself understood to wide-ranging audiences?

    - What do seasoned speakers wish they'd known when they first started out?

    - How can you line up quality gigs BEFORE you have a top agent?

    ... and many more!

    see more So You Wanna Be a Global Keynote Speaker? Learn from a $20K per Speech Keynote Speaker & the Speaking Agent who Books Him Around the World!
